01/01/15 - USDF Sport Horse Prospect Development Forum - Ingo Pape Three Year Old Stallion Training, Transitions within the gait, tempo control

Ingo Pape works with a three year old Sport Horse Prospect.  The total running time of this three part video is 35:30.

Video Description

In this session Ingo Pape watches as a three year old KWPN stallion warms up and talks about the importance of tempo. This lovely boy shows a great outline and rhythm in the trot warm up. They play with the size of the steps without changing the speed. He emphasizes building the transitions within the gaits rather than making them abrupt. They do the same exercise in canter, remembering to activate the hind leg as they shorten the stride. Ingo points out that he shouldn’t hurry, but take more time and have more swing. He shows great stretch in the walk break.
