Laura Graves reinforces the importance of a quick response off the aids with forward thinking, greatly improving the way of going with this lovely horse. The total running time of this three part video is 46:00. on the aids, leg aids, responsiveness, reactive, forward
Laura Graves works with this pair on the second day of the clinic (see her first day’s ride in Laura Graves - 10/13/16 - Attentive and Responsive). They start out making sure that he is thinking forward at all times. Laura helps her with using the right aids to help him hold himself up in the turns. They add in leg yields from the quarter line to the wall as they warm up. Even when he’s on the buckle at the end of the warm up, they make sure he’s marching and in front of the leg. Laura has her ask once for him to go forward if he slows down, and then use a strong aid to make sure he goes. They then reward him and ask again with the ideal aid, expecting a prompt response. She repeats this each time she hears the tempo of his steps slow.
