Gareth Hughes presents the half pass. The total running time of this video is 14:15.
Gareth Hughes covers how he teaches the canter half pass, starting with the line he rides. He explains the difference between riding the half pass in the trot and canter half pass. He begins the process by asking them quietly jump across to the inside only a couple of meters down the length of the long side of the arena. He discusses how to know when to increase the angle in your training. Gareth then demonstrates the next step of asking for more angle. He talks about the importance of being able to ask the horse to go straight as a preparation for the flying change at the end of the half pass. Common problems with the half pass are demonstrated as well as exercises to help with correcting those issues.
