Video Description

Courtney King-Dye begins this session by discussing the rider’s goals. She has worked with this mare and rider previously, and now they are working on getting her to reach to the bit by pushing more from behind. She has a tendency to go too deep, so they work on keeping the head up and out. They use lateral work and half halts from the body rather than the reins, and Courtney encourages her to lengthen her reins. She explains that the rider needs to allow her to be light, inviting her to come up in the neck.
