Cesar Torrente works with a four year old on the importance of going forward. The total running time of this video is 15:45. Four year old, forward, in front of the leg, relaxation, stretch
Cesar shows us this four year old after they have already warmed up. He looks for them to be forward and straight with the poll the highest point. They ask for transitions within the trot, making sure he’s in front of the leg, and when he breaks into canter they allow him to continue in the canter. Cesar asks the rider to let him go in the front without pulling back on the reins, and they repeat these same exercises in the other direction. Watch for the relaxation and elasticity this youngster shows. For the down transition within the trot Cesar has him stop pushing him forward instead of pulling. They continue this work of pushing him forward, looking for more reach under and relaxation until the horse steps under beautifully and stretches over his topline.
