Catherine Haddad - Skeletal Riding rider position, swing, sitting trot, half halts, engaging the core, sitting the canter

Catherine Haddad presents her fundamental concept of skeletal riding and how essential this skill is to creating the best ride. The total running time of this video is 21:15.

Video Description

Catherine revisits her concept of skeletal riding and how the muscle tone of the horses’ neck will match the muscle tone of the rider’s arms. Her rider demonstrates how loose and elastic her horse warms up as the rider carries the bit softly in the mouth where it is meant to flow freely. They show what happens when the rider is tense and stiff. Catherine has the rider demonstrate what happens in the sitting trot if the rider tenses up and tries to hold on with their muscles rather than sit skeletally, and how the horse reacts to that. She talks about “engaging the core” and how it’s used to encourage the horse more forward.
