Video Description

Florian Bacher of the Spanish Riding School first talks with Carl and Richard about the differences between training for the competition world and the training at the Spanish Riding School. They talk about warming up methods and his work at the School before introducing his first horse in hand. Florian explains how they train in hand at the SRS. He first works with an 8 year old that know the piaffe, but who needs to carry more weight on his hindquarters in the movement. He raises his back legs too high when touched with the whip, so Florian first works him in turn on the forehand asking for his hind legs to be quicker, always making sure he’s relaxed. When the gelding becomes tense he does a few reinbacks to give him something else to think about.
